The District 5360 Scholarship and Peace Fellowship Committee is now ready to receive applications for the Global Grant Scholarship and the Peace Fellowship.

Global Grant Scholarships fund graduate study (normally MA programs) outside of Canada in one of The Rotary Foundation’s six areas of focus:

Peace & Conflict Resolution/Prevention, Disease Prevention & Treatment, Water & Sanitation, Maternal & Child Health, Basic Education & Literacy, Economic & Community Development

Candidates must be residents of District 5360 and must be starting a new program of study after July 1, 2014. There is no cost to clubs to sponsor a Global Scholar; the program is entirely funded by District Designated Funds and the World Fund Match.  A District 5360 application form and more information are available on www.rotary5360.ca (follow the link to Global Grant Scholarship and Peace Fellowship).

Club sponsorship is required for Global Scholars but this year we are allowing prospective scholars to apply directly to the District Scholarship Team; if necessary, club sponsorship will be arranged later.

The District 5360 Global Grant Scholarship application deadline is November 30, 2013.  The deadline for Peace Fellowship applications is May 1, 2014; links to more information and application forms are available on www.rotary5360.ca (follow the link to Global Grant Scholarship and Peace Fellowship).

This year, District 5360 is pleased to be sponsoring a Peace Fellow, Mr. Jamie LeSueur, currently doing an MA degree in peace and conflict studies at Uppsala University in Sweden (he is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Calgary) and a Global Grant Scholar, Ms. Danielle Trudeau, currently doing an MA degree in disaster management at the University of Copenhagen (she is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Calgary Crowchild–Urban Spirits).

Global Grant Scholarships and Peace Fellowships are great opportunities for people who share Rotary’s vision to advance their education. Please advertise these opportunities widely.
