We have been advised by Lead Medical Officer of Health for the South Zone - Dr. Vivien Suttorp that Sunrise Rotary should suspend our in -person breakfast meetings for several weeks while the Omicron variant is rampant.
In a lengthy conversation with her today, she explained how contagious this variant is, and that for our own health and safety, and the health and safety of our families we should return to the Zoom only format. In addition to that, she expressed importance of a public-minded organization such as Sunrise Rotary to lead by example and suspend the in-person component of our meetings. In other words, the optics of in-person meetings are not what we want.
She also indicated the importance of having the third vaccine shot. It mitigates the severity of COVID, it does not prevent transmission of the virus.
It is frustrating to once again return to the Zoom only format, however, given the very clear advice from our Lead Medical Officer of Health, it behooves us to comply.
Here is the invitation to join our Zoom meeting on Thursday.

One photo is of our big effort by our work group on Tuesday 14th to re-label every single wreath (354 of them) and add the greeting insert. That day our work group was Doug, Tymm (and her husband Doug), Karl (and his wife Carla) and me (and my partner Keith). Earlier in the day Rita and Udo joined us as well.
The other photo is Karen presenting me with the quilt I won from the Vic Park Raffle.
For another year, Victoria Park High School teamed with Save On Foods for the Christmas hamper event. The initiative set a record this year, as over 60 hampers were created for local families. Each hamper contained about $200 worth of groceries, which included a turkey donated by Save On. A gift card was included in each hamper as well, thanks to extra funds raised this year.
Good Morning and sending you a very Happy New Year.
At the Board Meeting last evening, we were informed that to date, the membership contributed $230 for the Food Bank Fund. Due to the short notice of the collection and the holiday break, the Board determined we would open the contribution opportunity for this week only and will match the donations up to $500. You can ETransfer your donation.
Trust this will work for you and know your donation will make a big difference to the people in Lethbridge who are struggling.
It is our hope that you took the time over the Holiday Season to connect with family and friends. We look forward to productive and fulfilling New Year 2022.
