Speaker 30 Mar 2017: Tara Plato Lethbridge Public Library

The Lethbridge Public Library is a community driven organization, which means that we design our services based on what our community needs. The ways in which the Library can contribute to and serve our community are ever changing. We are always exploring new ways to, not only serve our current customers, but future customers as well. The Lethbridge Public Library has introduced some exciting new services in the last couple of years - Lethbridge Presents, Physical Literacy Kits, the Vinyl Revival Experience, and most recently, Cheers 4 Lethbridge. Terra Plato, CEO of the Library, will speak about the many services the Library offers the community including traditional and new library offerings.

Last week's speakers were Danielle Tait and Jess Fehr (SAAG)
In 2014, amidst plans for growth and expansion, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery was hit with severe provincial funding reductions from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Faced with the threat of cutting staff and programming, SAAG instead worked closely with the City of Lethbridge, Fund Development Consultants, a dedicated staff, and generous volunteers, to launch the first capital campaign in the gallery’s history: Live Art. Love SAAG.

This three-year, $1 million fundraising campaign was launched in January of 2016, coinciding with the gallery’s 40th anniversary. One year in to this campaign and we are seeing record-breaking community support, have maintained and grown our staff and programming, and look forward to our future with optimism, passion, and the vision of a community with arts and culture at its core.

Exciting 2017 Christmas Fundraiser Opportunity
Lethbridge's well-known artistic director, Fran Rude, described a delightful Christmas 2017 fundraiser that our club will partner with to raise money for Lethbridge and area food banks. It will be a theatric play of a Radio show based on "It's a Wonderful Life," complete with Foley sound effects. Thank you, Don Robb, for bringing us together!
