No doubt, some of you are interested in knowing what happens to the Annual Dues you pay as a member of this Rotary Club.  Below is a summary provided by the District Governor.

1.  RI Membership Dues:  US$54 per member annually, but billed directly to Clubs by RI semi-annually, July 1 and January 1.  RI bases its billing on the number of Club members in its records when the invoices are prepared.
2.  Rotary District 5360 Dues:  $55 per member billed by District on July 1.
3.  Insurance:  $21 per member, billed November 1 by the District.  An outline of coverage can be found on the District website.
4.  ClubRunner:  After a one time start up fee per Club of $200, Clubs are charged annually based on the number of members in the Club.  For example, a Club with 20 members is charged a Club monthly fee of $19.95 (paid annually $239).  For Clubs with between 51 and 80 members, the fee is $39.95 per month.  Invoices for ClubRunner are sent out 2 months ahead of the Club registration/expiry date.  Participation in ClubRunner is at the discretion of each Club.  To review the benefits of ClubRunner, go to their website http://www.clubrunner.ca

There are other external costs for Clubs depending on the plans of the individual Club.  For example, Clubs involved in Youth Exchange have additional costs.  Also, there are costs for sponsoring an Interact Club.  A Club may choose to support young people to attend RYLA or RYPEN weekend seminars.  Clubs usually raise funds separately for Community and International Projects.

On September 21, 2014 the Lethbridge Public Library will host its fourth annual THE WORD ON THE STREET FESTIVAL.  Founded in Toronto in 1990, the Festival's goal is to enhance and enrich a connection to reading and writing in all its forms by showcasing local, provincial and national literary and artistic talent.  The festival presents established and emerging authors, storytellers, demonstrations and workshops, street performers, live music, and a bustling marketplace.  We strive to create a festival that represents the diversity of our community, is appropriate to all ages, and most importantly is lively and fun.

It takes a lot of volunteers to be able to pull off a free, community event of this size so please consider volunteering.  This is a great volunteer opportunity as it is only a one day event and will not require an extended time commitment on anyones part.  If you would like to volunteer please contact Emily Kundrik by phone at 403 320-4078 or by email at word@lethlib.ca
