Professor Craig Coburn is a remote sensing scientist working in the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Lethbridge.
With over 25 years of remote sensing experience, Prof. Coburn has focussed efforts on how we can learn more about all the things in our landscape that are that are out of sight, Professor Coburn has led an innovative research program using remotely piloted aircraft and imaging systems that are timely, accessible, and affordable,. He shared the fascinating details of a project that used drones and thermal imaging to map “missing graves”. Century-old church and community records may be non-existent or inaccurate, and this technology helps public works know what is beneath the ground in their municipalities.
And, we can be proud that University of Lethbridge leads Canada in developing remote sending research and solutions!
