Back to Zoom Meeting
The Sunrise Board met this evening and it was unanimously decided that we return to Zoom only meetings while the COVID numbers are so high.  We will review the situation in early November.

A large percentage of our membership is fully vaccinated, however, fully vaxed people can still spread COVID.   The risk of spreading COVID is very high.  The Board felt that we should minimize that risk and return to Zoom meetings.

While this is a disappointment for all of us, we hope you all understand this decision.

It was suggested that those who wish to partake of a breakfast with a very small cohort following the Zoom meeting are certainly able to do so.

Starting this Thursday, September 9, we will be on Zoom at 7:00 AM

Yours in Rotary

2021 Waterton Glacier Peace Park Assembly

The 2021 Waterton Glacier Peace Park Annual Assembly Goes Virtual!

After considerable and deliberate discussion by the 2021 WGIPPA Assembly Planning Committee, it has been decided to change the 2021 WGIPPA Annual Assembly to a Virtual Zoom format. In making this decision, the Committee weighed the safety risks associated with holding large indoor and outdoor celebrations and meetings during the midst of the recent Covid-19 surge, against the safety protocols required to insure a completely safe event. Despite the nearly overwhelming desire to get friends together, it was decided that the risks of an in-person event greatly outweighed available mitigative safety measures.
All individuals who have previously registered for the in-person event will be refunded the full registration cost. Registrants are responsible to cancel any of their own hotel registrations which may have been made.  A new registration link will be available to register for the virtual Zoom Assembly on the WGIPPA website (watertonglacierpeacepark.org).  The Zoom Assembly will be held on the originally chosen date of Saturday, September 18, 2021. Virtual Registration will be available for a $25.00 charge, which will help defray costs incurred by the organizing committee for the in-person event.
A condensed version of the Assembly’s original planned content will be retained in the virtual event, and the new Virtual Assembly Program, which will start at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 18, will be posted on the WGIPPA website (watertonglacierpeacepark.org).
As in past Peace Park Assemblies, a WGIPPA Board of Directors meeting will be held (this year by Zoom) at 6:30 PM MDT on Friday, September 17.  The WGIPPA Annual General Meeting will be held (via Zoom) at 10:30 AM MDT on Saturday, September 18, and will be concluded prior to a lunch break.  The 2021 Annual Assembly Program will then follow at 2:00 PM MDT.
Many heartfelt thanks go out to the 2021 WGIPPA Planning Committee for the innumerable hours they have expended, and the comprehensive planning they have undertaken, to make this year’s event an exciting success under extremely trying conditions.

Please join me in re-registering for this outstanding 2021 Waterton Glacier International Peace Park Association Annual Assembly, in Virtual Format.

PBR 50/50 Raffle Draw

The 50/50 Raffle Draws at the PBR event in Lethbridge on Friday and Saturday evenings were a success.  On Friday night, approximately $2500 was won by a gentleman from Calgary who had his winning ticket purchased for him by a friend as a birthday gift.  On Saturday night, approximately $4000 was won by a young woman from Brocket who plans to use the money for tuition as she completes Master’s degree in Psychology. We raised approximately $6500 for the club’s projects.
Thanks to Rotarians and friends who worked the event especially: Udo Hanebaum, event organiser, Gwen McMillan, tailgate party organizer, Daryn Wenaas, accounting, Felipe Guerra, accounting, Marlys Reynar, Treasurer, Irm Kuhn and Rita Boltezar, equipment cleanup, and to all those Ticket sellers.

More exciting news—we get to do this all again in February!!!!!

In Person and Hybrid Meetings

A number of Rotary clubs in our District have begun in-person and hybrid meetings. While this a very positive development it is critical that we move ahead with caution.

These have been up-dated and will come into effect Saturday Sept. 4th at 8.am.

Additionally, Rotary International has issued the following Policy:
  • The health and safety of all participants in Rotary programs, meetings, and events is of paramount importance.
  • All conveners and organizers of Rotary meetings and events shall fully comply with all health and safety rules in effect in that location.
  • No in-person Rotary meeting or event shall be mandatory for any participant who may feel uncomfortable attending because of the pandemic.
  • All conveners and organizers of Rotary meetings and events are strongly encouraged to consider all health concerns in deciding whether to hold in-person meetings.
  • All travelers must adhere to all risk mitigation protocols required or recommended by local authorities.
As we move forward we will keep you abreast of changes that will impact In-Person meetings. Please take care of your fellow members and follow the 4 way test.
